For our friends diagnosed with cancer and their families, it can be difficult to find reliable, helpful information for each unique facet of recovery. The resource library below is intended to help you connect with organizations that can help you along on your journey.

These resources are a great start, but this is just a small list compared to everything you can find on the Internet about cancer (not all of it accurate). If you’re ever unsure, follow these tips to find legitimate information about cancer online.

  • Cancer and Careers – Offers advice, tools, and education event to help people with cancer who continue to work.
  • Cancer Legal Resource Center – The center assists people to navigate legal issues that arise because of their cancer diagnoses.
  • National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship  – Advocates for quality cancer care for all cancer survivors and those living with cancer to improve their quality of care and quality of life after diagnosis.
  • Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic – An organization that provides free legal services statewide to those who can’t access them
  • Triage Cancer – A national, nonprofit organization that provides free education on the legal and practical issues that may impact individuals diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers

  • Colon Cancer Alliance – Advocate for prevention, magnify support, and accelerate research to stop colon cancer.
  • FORCE – Focused on supporting individuals and families affected by hereditary cancer, primarily caused by genetic mutation to improve the lives of individuals and families facing hereditary cancer.
  • Francine’s FriendsProvides mobile mammography in partnership with Parkview Health and Breast Diagnostic Center.
  • Indiana Cancer ConsortiumThis is a statewide network of public and private partnerships work to reduce the cancer burden in Indiana through several processes that address cancers across the continuum from prevention through palliation.
  • Indiana Tobacco Quitline – A free service that helps Indiana residents quit tobacco use.
  • Indiana Women in Need (IWIN) – Supports individuals statewide receiving treatment for breast cancer by relieving emotional, physical, and financial burdens.
  • Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Works to find cures for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
  • Living Beyond Breast Cancer – Provides support and resources specifically tailored to young women diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Look Up Indiana – Provides information, resources, and support for mental and behavioral health issue.

  • National Cancer Institute – Federal government’s principal agency for cancer research and training.
  • National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship – Advocates for quality cancer care and empowers cancer survivors.
  • National Comprehensive Cancer Network – Alliance of 33 leading cancer centers devoted to patient care, research, and education.
  • Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck CancerAddresses the broad emotional, physical, and humanistic needs of oral, head, and neck cancer patients.
  • Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Funds research, care, and community programs to fight breast cancer. Also works on patient navigation and advocacy.
  • Us TOO International Prostate Cancer Education and Support NetworkProvides cancer education and through support network, provide people impacted by prostate cancer with an opportunity to be with others who have a common purpose.
  • Young Survival Coalition – Supports young adults (aged 40 and under) with breast cancer, providing resources, education, advocacy, and community connections to ensure they don’t face the disease alone.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

  • Cancer Care – Limited assistance is available to eligible individuals for treatment-related costs such as transportation, home care and childcare.
  • Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)The world’s largest voluntary (nonprofit) health organization is dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
  • Patient Advocate FoundationA division of their program provides small grants for expenses outside of medical costs to patients who meet financial and medical criteria.

  • Money Management International – Provides a wide range of solutions to everyday financial challenges, from overwhelming credit card debt to a delinquent mortgage, to recovering from natural disasters, and more.

PEER SUPPORT

  • 4th Angel Mentoring Program – Offers free, national program that matches cancer patients and caregivers with trained volunteer mentors.
  • CanCare – Provides online support group in a professionally facilitated, peer-led support group for anyone living with a cancer diagnosis.
  • Cancer Hope Network – Provides free, confidential, one-on-one emotional support to cancer patients and their loved ones.
  • Imerman Angels – Offers a peer-to-peer mentorship program that offers free, individualized cancer support.
