On Friday, June 7, the sun was shining and the flowers were blooming as we celebrated the opening of our of long-awaited Healing Garden. Many thanks to the donors and volunteers who helped make this special place possible: Mo Palmer, Don and Vanessa Bender, Michael Himes, Ken Hensch, Steve and Maria DeWald, Brooks Construction, Brotherhood Mutual and Petroleum Traders.
We encourage you to stop by and stroll the meandering path or sit quietly on a chair or bench to reflect. This space is designed to quiet your mind. It’s also a lovely spot to visit with a friend. The garden is here for you and your good health.
Join us on Friday, June 7, for our annual Picnic in the Park. Our friends at Bravas Dogs will be here serving up their famous hot dogs. Make sure you try theBALDdog for $4. All proceeds from the sale of this dog benefit our organization! We will also have games on hand for folks to play, along with tour of our new Healing Garden. So come on out! We’d love to see you.
Earlier this year, we began construction on a 3,000 sq. ft. outdoor space for people with cancer and their families to experience the beauty and peace of nature, a place to restore the mind, body and spirit—a Healing Garden. Last week, the pergola and some of the brick work was completed. Today, volunteers gathered to help plant flowers and shrubs. The garden is taking shape! We welcome you to come and see for yourself!
We are very excited to bring you this relaxing garden. We anticipate participants in re-Energize and Tai Chi to be early users of this space and encourage others to come and spend time here too!
