Save the Date – Tribute Dinner 2014
Our Annual Tribute Dinner provides an opportunity to support those with cancer and their families in our community. It is an evening to pause, treasure the lives of people touched by cancer, and pay tribute to them, whether a cancer survivor, caregiver, physician or lost loved one.
This year’s event will take place on Thursday, September 18, at Hotel Fort Wayne. This year marks the 10th year for the signature event and will feature keynote speaker Dan Shapiro, Ph.D.
Shapiro understands firsthand the challenges and hardships of cancer from the patient’s, caregiver’s, and clinician’s perspective. Shapiro is the Chair of the Department of Humanities at Penn State College of Medicine. He has appeared on two television series on National Geographic and The Discovery Channel and has written three books as well as articles for The New York Times, JAMA, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Shapiro’s message to Cancer Services’ supporters will emphasize the importance of connecting with others and having hope while facing the challenges of cancer treatment.
It will be an evening full of hope, inspiration, and community.
There are several ways you can take part in the event:
- Host a table for your friends and family members
- Organize a group of your friends or family members to all contribute to host a table
- Purchase an individual ticket and join other Cancer Services supporters
Individual tickets are $100. Tables are $800 (seats 8 and includes tribute). To reserve your spot, call Stacey Stumpf at (260) 484-9560 or email sstumpf@cancer-services.org.Â
Fort 4 Fitness Charity Partner
Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana is proud to be a Charity Partner for the 7th annual Fort 4 Fitness Fall Festival, which takes place September 26-27, 2014 at Parkview Field.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Register
Choose your race and register online. Choose CSNI in the drop down menu to select Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana as the Charity Partner you support. Already registered? You can still join our team. Email Laura and let her know the name you registered under and she will add you to our team.
Step 2: Consider Pledging Additional Funds
Whether you’re participating in the 4 mile walk/run, the 10K, half marathon, the kids marathon or the seniors marathon, you will certainly be challenged, especially if you’ve never done one before. Many people find extra motivation to train by asking their family and friends to support you by making a pledge. We encourage you to do so. For family and friends to make donations on your behalf to support your efforts, direct them to our Donation Page. On the form where it says “Please designate my donation in honor of” have them fill out your name, followed by F4F. We will provide you with a list of people who have donated in your honor. It’s easy! You can also collect pledges and bring them in to Cancer Services at any time. Dri-fit shirts will cost $12 this year ($15 for bigger sizes). Please email Laura by September 6 with your size.Â
Step 3: Recruit your Family & Friends to join our team
The more the merrier! Tell everyone you know to check out our page and register to join our team! If we have 50 or more people on the CSNI Team, we will be given a reunion area at Parkview Field after the races.
Step 4: Train Hard, Get Fit, Have Fun
Fort 4 Fitness is designed to promote health and we hope you have a wonderful time preparing for the big day. Let us know how we can help you meet your goals!

Lapper 2014
Lapper 2014 is a fundraiser for Cancer Services to honor or memorialize those touched by cancer. When Lapper founder Jill Burnett organized this event 12 years ago, she encouraged people to test their own endurance and push past their comfort zones just as people with cancer do every day. That tradition continues today, and each Lapper participant is pushed to walk as many laps around the Brotherhood Office Park, where Cancer Services is located, as they can.
Bring a friend, form a team and help us raise money to provide support and services to people with cancer in our community. Help us meet our $65,000 goal at this year’s event. All proceeds benefit Cancer Services and help support programs for people with cancer in our community.
