2024 in Review

What an exciting year we’ve had at Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana! We were fortunate to enjoy 2024 full of new opportunities to support people affected by cancer.

The year kicked off with an exciting milestone—80 years of caring. Cancer Services was founded because compassionate community leaders decided they wanted to wrap their arms around people with cancer. Fortunately, the community stood behind them in wholehearted support for the next 80 years. It is because of you and all who helped before you that we continue to serve our mission that started eight decades ago.

In February, we opened a new, permanent location in Warsaw. Since then, the Warsaw location has been visited over 400 times. During those visits, people picked up a wheelchair for their mom, grabbed two cases of nutritional supplement drinks for their spouse, sat down for a private counseling session, or celebrated a clear scan with their advocate. We faced learning curves and challenges, but the effort has been worth it to help ease the burden on local families.

Another cause for celebration, 2024 was the inaugural year for Surviving Together, a survivorship event presented by Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana and thoughtfully planned by a volunteer committee of Warsaw area community members. We are so grateful to the organizations, volunteers, and sponsors who came together to make the event happen. The day was boiling hot, but it was still a blast to come together and celebrate survivorship in all its forms. Stay tuned for more information about 2025’s event!

Speaking of events, our community showed up in a big way to support both of our major fundraising events this year. Ribbon Walk raised $117,664, with the largest turnout on the day of the walk we’ve ever had! Tribute Dinner, which shined the spotlight on caregivers, raised $71,815. THANK YOU to the generous donors, sponsors, and volunteers who made both events such a resounding success.

Preliminary numbers show that Cancer Services helped around 5,000 people throughout Northeast Indiana in 2024. The number of people we serve each year continues to climb. We are happy to help people in need but also feel sad that more and more people face this illness every year. However, thanks to the generosity of donors, we can continue to be here for the community that needs us.

Overall, we are thankful to head into 2025 and looking forward to what the new year brings along with it.
