One thing that is important to know is that there is no “right” way to grieve. It’s also true that a traditional bereavement support group may not be the most comfortable fit for everyone. However, everyone deserves to have a trusted help during the grieving process.
That is why Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana offers two support groups that are open to any adult who has experienced the death of a loved one. The death does not need to be cancer related.
Our ongoing support group meets every Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Healing Arts Center. This group is facilitated by Dar Richardson.
On February 24, 2015 we are starting a new grief program that is a partnership with Visiting Nurse. The program runs for 10 consecutive weeks (Feb. 24-April 28) and will meet on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. This program is curriculum-based using Alan Wolfelt’s book, “Understanding Your Grief,” and will be led by Bonnie Davis of Visiting Nurse.
The program is especially useful for people who are newly bereaved, usually defined as up to the two year mark of the loss.
Please call Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana at (260)484-9560 to reserve your place.
