On Saturday, Dare to Dream Youth Ranch hosted a day camp for children with cancer in partnership with our organization. The children and their families enjoyed a day of horseback riding, games, and ranch experiences.
This partnership gave these brave kids and their families the opportunity to do fun activities that enrich their experience and build emotional strength for the challenges they face. Cancer Services is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of these families in a number of ways, and this day camp is just one of them. It was a special day.
Bret Procise, Executive Board Member and Founder at Dare to Dream Youth Ranch, says, “This day camp is exactly why we do what we do here at the Ranch, and is right in line with our mission to encourage children, heal horses, build the family and spread the message of hope.”
On Sunday, a group of our volunteers participated in the Allegiant “Dodge High Fares” Dodge Ball tournament, hosted by Fort Wayne International Airport as part of the 3 Rivers Festival. Team Captain Kevin Bewley recruited a strong team of 7 men and 3 women, and while they did not win, they had a great time representing our organization. Congrats to team The Really Really Big Show for winning the tourney, and to our friends at Community Harvest for taking second place.
As a part of the event, we were given the opportunity to have an information booth where we shared agency information, blue “count moments” bracelets, and introduced our men’s cancer awareness campaign. Soon, our city will be filled with billboards of our “Naked Men” to raise awareness about men’s cancer. We can’t wait for them to go live. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek.
