Announcing our Lapper Tee Shirt Winner

A few weeks ago, we launched our first tee-shirt design contest for Lapper 2013, and we were overwhelmed with the response. Hats off and a BIG thank you to everyone who participated. We had a great mix of design entries and we are pleased to announce the winner. Congratulations Nick Resor! His design is below. We can’t wait to see the sea of lavender at our event on May 18.

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week! We love our volunteers

by Cheryl Dafforn, volunteer coordinator

We have been blessed with volunteers since 1944.  It started out with just a few, and now has blossomed into more than 600 caring individuals who help make Cancer Services what it is today.  People often ask how we get so many volunteers.  So we want to share our secret recipe…

1 cup of generosity

½ cup of time

1 tablespoon of dedication

1 teaspoon of love

A pinch of joy

A dash of kindness

A sprinkle of loyalty

Combine with love, mix with willingness, and blend with individual talents.

That is our secret recipe…inspired by wonderful volunteers who demonstrate each day what it takes to be a volunteer.

Interested in volunteering? We’d love for you to join our team. Find out more on our volunteer page.

Thank you TinCaps

Paxton Croy, with his mother, was excited to throw out the first pitch.

The TinCaps opened their home season at Parkview Field on Thursday, and for the 3rd year, we were honored to participate as the featured charity. Our Assistant Program director, Tina; board member, Kathy Peterson; and Development Director, Amber, attended the game, passing out information about our organization and talking to people about the upcoming Lapper walk on May 18. Though it was cold and rainy, thousands of people flooded the stadium and many came by to visit us.

One of our clients, Paxton (pictured left with his mother), had the honor of throwing out the first pitch, and when he did so, he was met with thunderous applause.

Thank you TinCaps for allowing us to be a part of your home opener every year!
