New resource center for local people with cancer opening on North Pointe Dr. in Warsaw
Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana will soon open an additional resource center for families facing cancer in and around Kosciusko, Noble, Whitley, and Wabash counties called Cancer Services West.
Cancer Services West will open to the public on February 12, 2024. Resources for families will include personal advocacy and support, financial assistance, in-person mental health counseling, medical equipment and supplies, and wigs and head coverings. Anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis and lives in Northeast Indiana is eligible to receive services. Cancer Services serves families in Allen, Adams, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley counties.
Cancer Services West is located at 2190 North Pointe Dr, Warsaw, IN 46582. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Community members can seek help by calling (260) 484-9560 or completing the online form at https://www.cancer-services.org/what-we-do/become-a-client/.
Cancer Services has been serving Kosciusko and surrounding areas since 2006. Last year, 313 families in Kosciusko and surrounding areas found help and hope through the organization.
“Eighty years ago, Cancer Services was founded when a group of community leaders decided they couldn’t turn their backs on those struggling with cancer. We know that it’s a real burden for a family with cancer to travel to Fort Wayne from Warsaw or another nearby town. We wanted to eliminate that barrier to accessing our services,” said Dianne May, President & CEO of Cancer Services.
This expansion of services in Kosciusko and surrounding areas has been made possible by individual donors and local foundations. The K21 Health Foundation and Kosciusko County Community Foundation have provided long-standing financial support and have played an integral role in making Cancer Services West a reality.
“Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana have served many from Kosciusko County for years, and we’ve been blessed to partner with them in supporting the residents benefiting from their care. Having them present in our community enhances their relational care and we are pleased to support their growth”, shared Rich Haddad, President and CEO of K21 Health Foundation.
Stephanie Overbey, Chief Executive Officer of the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, stated, “We are excited to see a local office open for Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana! This move will help area cancer patients and their families more easily access services and support. We are grateful for Cancer Services’ commitment to Kosciusko County.”
